The hand-poke process originated from traditional forms of non-electric tattooing across cultures that were generally used in connection to community or religion. Hand poke tattoos, also known as stick and poke tattoos, are the oldest tattoo tradition. Where I am come from, Indonesia, tattoos are part of my culture, and an important part of our country’s very unique cultural heritage and to not give them their due respect is, honestly, just a bit biased and slightly ignorant to my country long history, tradition and resounding cultural importance of hand poke tattooing.
